Ni hao...welcome to Dlian No.24 senior Middle school.I am Jan Cochran and the foreign teacher here for English and intermational Business English for Grade 1.

I am the first teacher to come to Dalian No.24 under the cultural exchange program with Lamar High School in Houston,Texas.I did not know what to expect when I arrived in China .I had only met a few people at the school before my arrival and spoke no Chinese.I had no idea of what China or the educational system here would be like.

When I went home to America during winter vacation,I told the teacher and staff at my school that teaching in China was absolutely the best thing that I had ever done in my life.Dalian No.24 represents "Excellence in Education".some of the very best teachers in China are here.In the city-wide English competition for Grade 1,the students from Dalian N0.24 placed 1^st,2^nd and 3^rd.

These hard working teacher give so much encouragement to their students to work hard and to do their best. I have been so touched by the dedication the teachers show to their students.

I have been very impressed with the leadership of Salian No.24. No.24 is the number one school in Dalian and this did not happen by accident. A school must have a strong leader to be the best in a city and Mr.Hou has shown to me that he is not only progressive,but that he cares very much about the students and strives to give them the very best education possible.

The students of Dlian No.24 - how can I say what is in my heart? They are top students who work very hard in the classroom. They are kind and friendly students who I tell every day how much I care about them. They have the best attitudes and show such respect to me the other teachers here.

We,as foreign teachers,appreciate the opportunity to teach here. We teach in a very different way-very lively ,creative and challenge the students to "open their minds to learning English." We want to take this opportunity to invite each of the students here today to attend a free show class given by us next Sunday at from___a.m.to__a.m.on the fourth floor in____buding. We willbe presenting a funfilled, but educational,English class for all of you.

这里勤奋敬业的教师给了学生极大的鼓励和信心去争取更大的进步，我为这些教师表现出来的奉献精神深深感动。

与此同时，这所学校的领导班子也给我留下了深刻的印象，大连24中学是大连市最好的高中，这绝不是偶然的，一个学校必须有一个领导有方的校长，才可能使学校成为全市最好的学校，24中的侯校长不仅有远见卓识，而且非常关心学生的成长，尽力给学生可能得到的最好的教育。

关于24中的学生——我该如何表达我的心理话呢？他们是最最优秀的学生，在学业上刻苦钻研，同时又善良友善，每一天，我都会告诉他们我有多么喜欢他们，他们对我和其他的教师都十分尊重和喜爱。

我和其他的外藉教师一样，非常珍惜在这里工作的机会，我们用完全不同的方式上课——非常生动，富有创造性，同时又能激发学生“开阔思维去学英语”，我们想利用今天这个机会，邀请在座的每一位学生参加一节我们准备的展示课，我们将于下周日上午8：00——9：30，在实验楼四楼给大家上一节寓教于乐的英语课。
